Premature Rupture of Membranes at Term: Immediate Induction With PGE(2) Gel Compared With Delayed Induction With Oxytocin.

چکیده
OBJECTIVES To compare the effectiveness, safety of immediate induction with PGE(2) gel and expectant management in terms of maternal and fetal outcome in term PROM. METHODS 100 women were randomized to group A, immediate induction and group B expectant management. RESULTS Spontaneous vaginal deliveries were more in group B. CS and operative vaginal deliveries were more in group A. CONCLUSION Expectant management followed by delayed induction with oxytocin is better than immediate induction with PGE(2) gel in term PROM. A good number of women go into spontaneous labor and deliver vaginally with out increase in the Cesarean section rate and infectious morbidity for mother and fetus.

A randomized study comparing intravaginal prostaglandin (PGE2) with oxytocin for induction of labour in premature rupture of membrane at term.
This is a prospective randomized study conducted in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital from February 2008 to January 2009. Total 72 women with Premature rupture of membranes (PROM) were included. Thirty-six women received PGE2 vaginal gel and thirty-six received iv oxytocin. Induction was successful in majority of cases in both the groups; 88.8% in PGE2 and 83.3% in oxytocin group (p value ...

BACKGROUND: Spontaneous pre-labour rupture of membranes (SPROM) at term is one of the most common complications of pregnancy. It is an important cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality, particularly because it is associated with a latency period from membrane rupture to delivery. OBJECTIVE: To compare the outcome of labour in women who had immediate induction of labour, with those who had de...
متن کاملInduction of labor compared with expectant management for prelabor rupture of the membranes at term. TERMPROM Study Group.
BACKGROUND As the interval between rupture of the fetal membranes at term and delivery increases, so may the risk of fetal and maternal infection. It is not known whether inducing labor will reduce this risk or whether one method of induction is better then another. METHODS We studied 5041 women with prelabor rupture of the membranes at term. The women were randomly assigned to induction of l...

Background & Aim: Premature rupture of membrane is one of the most common problems in obstetrics, and successful labor induction, especially in cases with low bishop score(BS), is an important factor in decreasing maternal and fetal complications. The object of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of vaginal misoprostol on duration of labor in preterm premature rupture of membra...
